Saint Anthony's Church - YonkersNursing Home VolunteersS.A.Y.Purpose:S.A.Y. was formed on March 15, 1967 as an ecumenical venture for the purpose of bringing a little "sunshine" to the residents of a nursing home. At that time the visits were to the patients of the former Saw Mill River Nursing Home. We now visit with the residents of the Sprain Brook Manor Nursing Home. For over thirty-three years we are trying to bring a little of the outside world into the shut-in’s present home. We want to be a true visitor by listening to all that is important to them now, being so removed from their once familiar surroundings. Our motto is: "When you meet someone without a smile, give him/her yours." Every year at Christmas time we arrange a holiday party for the nursing home residents. Music, fruit punch, decorated cake, specially chosen gift-wrapped presents are all part of the celebration. Presents are collected annually from Saint Anthony’s parishioners as well as from the members of S.A.Y. Membership:Membership is open to all. It is always a great pleasure when we can welcome a new member. Except for July and August, every member of S.A.Y. visits the nursing home once a month for about 2 hours. So, please join us in this endeavor. It only takes two hours a month of every member’s time (1 1/2 hours to visit and 1/2 hour for transit). Officers:
